About Us

Who Are We?

ASTRONOMY, a natural science, is the study of celestial objects and aboutes, the physics, chemistry, and evolution of such objects and aboutes, and more generally all phenomena that originate outside the atmosphere of Earth. So we at RGIPT, Amethi, UP made a club for the astronomy enthusiasts to quench their thirst for knowledge here only.

We are a bunch of people enthusiastic towards astronomy. Fascinated with the mysteries of the night sky and majestic views of telescope.

The RGIPT Astronomy Club was founded by Y22 Batch students : Ankur Kumar and Ayush Kashyup. The club aims to create awareness in the field of amateur astronomy by indulging in night-sky observations, talks and various competitions.

What We Do?

“Astronomy compels us to look upwards and leads us from this world to another.” - Plato.

Astronomy is not limited to theoretical concepts but involves practical observation of what lies beyond our horizon. It questions the origin and existence of our universe. This keeps us driving and entices the desire to learn.

The club has successfully built an environment of healthy exchange of knowledge about astronomy and astrophysics. The dedicated team has made the college proud by winning various astronomical competitions held across the nation. We aim higher!

Events

The Astronomy Club hosts many inter and intra college events alongside the Science & Technical, few of which are also associated with the RGIPT's Techfest URJOTSAV.

Synopsis

A CanSat is a simulation of a real satellite, integrated within the volume and shape of a soft drink can. The challenge for the students is to fit all the major subsystems found in a satellite, such as power, sensors and a communication system, into this minimal volume. The CanSat is then launched to an altitude of a few hundred metres by a rocket or dropped from a platform or captive balloon and its mission begins: to carry out a scientific experiment and achieve a safe landing. CanSats offer a unique opportunity for students to have a first practical experience of a real space project. They are responsible for all aspects: designing the CanSat, selecting its mission, integrating the components, testing, preparing for launch and then analysing the data.

Astronomy is all about exploring the unfathomable reaches of universe. It’s a continuous learning about where mankind progresses as the cosmos evolves. The mystery of our evolution and descent can be resolved to a great extent by what we learn and what we perceive. The sky’s the limit!
